(CNN) — Barack Obama had a formidable online presence during his quest for the White House, and he is once again turning to the Internet to communicate with the American public as president-elect.

President-elect Barack Obama has launched a Web site to chronicle his transition.

Within 24 hours of last week’s historic vote, his transition team rolled out change.gov, a Web site that promises to be “your source for the latest news, events and announcements so that you can follow the setting up of the Obama administration.”

Till slut skrevs hon ut av psykiatrin som ett hopplöst fall. Det kan ha varit ett utslag av språkförbistring men orden från en utländsk läkare blev ödesdigra: “Nu har vi försökt allt, det är fel på din personlighet och vi kan inte hjälpa dig, sa han”.

Frågan om hur ert gemensamma liv ska utformas är inget som ensidigt kan dikteras av dig utan något ni behöver prata ihop er om.

Jag är 26 år gammal och jag har aldrig förut haft ett seriöst [???] förhållande. Men jag letar alltid efter den perfekte killen och gång på gång väljer jag en kille som egentligen inte är intresserad av mig.

I början är jag helt uppfylld av honom och övertygad om att han förr eller senare kommer att inse att jag också är perfekt för honom. [???] Men det händer aldrig.

Den senaste tiden har jag umgåtts med en kille som jag blev kär [???] i, men sedan fick jag veta att han inte kände likadant och som alltid blir jag helt knäckt.

Jag förstår att det här egentligen är ett problem hos mig.

ICM agency is jolted by departures - Los Angeles Times

industry veteran Robert Newman jumped ship Wednesday after 17 years to join rival Endeavor Agency.

Newman, 48, the head of ICM’s motion picture group, represents a roster of prestigious filmmakers that include Robert Rodriguez, Baz Luhrmann, Guillermo del Toro and Mike Figgis.

He and Matt Solo, the former head of ICM’s television literary department, are joining Endeavor as partners. Solo, 45, whose clients include “House” creator David Shore and “The Shield” creator Shawn Ryan, left International Creative Management Inc. last month.

The signings come six months after a management shuffle and power shift at ICM that saw Chris Silbermann replace veteran agent Nancy Josephson as co-president

Industry sources said the latest departures showed that the legendary ICM remained in transition, whereas Endeavor continued to attract buzz as an up-and-comer.

Newman and the agency both said the split was amicable.

“I’ve had a great experience for the last 17 years, and I’ll always be grateful to my friends and colleagues at ICM,” Newman said in an interview. “I’m excited to be joining a team that has created such a wonderful, supportive environment for artists.”

The Superagents

However, some would say that this type of relationship is a thing of the past. In Hollywood, the agency business was almost single-handedly transformed in the late seventies by the infamous Michael Ovitz, founder of CAA (Creative Artists Agency) and dubbed by the press over the next two decades as ‘the most powerful man in Hollywood’.

Ovitz and his fellow agents built up a huge and impressive client list, and went aggressively after big deals and big money.

Using their experience in television, CAA began to offer ‘package’ deals - common in TV but unheard of in film - whereby the agents would bring together the writer, director, producer and principal cast from amongst their own clients and offer them to a studio as a package.

CAA undercut normal agency fees but demanded huge salaries for their actors.

ICM and WMA (William Morris Agency) eventually followed suit. The cost of making movies soared, and the powerbase was transferred from the studios to the ’superagents’.

Scouting for Talent

As a junior agent, you generally have to make the rounds. If you’re a casting agent, this means attending end of year shows at the drama schools and keeping an eye on early evening television in case there’s anyone worth poaching.

If you’re a literary agent (which means you represent directors and writers) you spend most of your evenings in fringe theatres, searching for the next Sam Mendes or David Hare.

And then there’s the showreels, and the short films, and the scripts. Lots of them.

If you are an experienced agent or belong to a large agency, the talent generally comes to you - often introduced by those on the production side. If a producer who has a good relationship with your agency finds a bright young writer, they will tend to push them your way. And there’s always that weather eye open for anyone who may be unhappy with their current representation.

Talent agents work on behalf of the ‘creative talent’ in the entertainment industry. Usually ‘creative talent’ means actors, directors and writers, but can also include producers, costume designers, lighting cameramen, choreographers, composers. Basically anyone who has creative input in an entertainment project can have an agent to represent them.

An agent’s place in the industry pecking order is based not on their own personal qualities and talents, but the people on their list. If you want to get the head of Miramax on the phone, or make a same-day reservation for lunch at the Ivy¹, you need to represent some major talent.
